FOSDEM 2026 and Easterhegg 23

So, due to the recent death of a loved one, I wasn't really in the best state to go to a conference like FOSDEM and fully engage with it. But as it was also a way to distract, we decided to make the trip. It was the right decision, not just because of the Belgium beer.

The campus was packed with OpenSource enthusiasts. I met some of the regulars and new people. Especially the mecha project with their Comet handheld impressed me. I immediately joined the kickstarter and am now eagerly awaiting the launch.

If you are anywhere near Brussels, make sure to visit alchemists coffee. Easily one of the best coffees I enjoyed so far in life.

When I saw that this year's Easterhegg would take place in Koblenz I was really looking forward to enjoy such an event while being able to just sleep at home. All I needed was a ticket. And contrary to a certain other CCC event, I was able to get one \o/

The everlasting breakfast was delicious, the mate selection solid and the people excellent. I spend most of the time in the hackcenter working on theotui and didn't attend as many talks. After the very crowded FOSDEM, it was kind of nice to have a lot of breathing space on the campus in Koblenz.
